John McGuinness

Question:

230 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children if, further to an occupational therapist's report in the case of a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny, part of the work undertaken will be recommended in view of the applicant's medical condition. [3394/02]

John McGuinness

Question:

231 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children the reasons for the delay in providing an occupational therapist's report for a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny; and if the report will be expedited. [3395/02]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 230 and 231 together.

As I have previously informed the Deputy, the provision of the disabled person's grant to enable housing modifications to be made to the homes of disabled persons is entirely a matter for the Department of the Environment and Local Government. Such grants are administered through the relevant local authority. Use of health board staff, that is, occupational therapists, to provide assessments for this scheme is a matter for discussion between the relevant local authorities and health boards.
Copies of the Deputy's questions have been referred to the chief executive officer of the South-Eastern Health Board for his attention and direct reply to the Deputy.
