Vol. 547 No. 4

Written Answers. - FAI Development Plans.

Question:

203 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation his views on the Football Association of Ireland's plans to include a re-developed Lansdowne Road as part of a Scotland-Ireland joint bid for the 2008 European Championships. [3934/02]

The Scottish Football Association (SFA) and the Football Association of Ireland (FAI) are currently considering a joint bid to host the 2008 UEFA European Soccer Championships. Both football associations must confirm by 28 February to UEFA that they intend submitting a joint bid by 31 May, the closing date for the submission of formal bids. The possible usage of Lansdowne Road as part of the bid is a matter for the FAI and the stadium's owners, the Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU).
