Vol. 548 No. 5

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Benefits.

Michael Ring

Question:

348 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs the reason a person (details supplied) in County Mayo was refused the back to work allowance. [5750/02]

The person concerned applied to his local partnership company for approval of his back-to-work enterprise self-employment project. The partnership company approved his project on 7 August 2001. At that time the person concerned was no longer in receipt of a qualifying payment as his unemployment benefit ceased on 27 July 2001. He did not, therefore, qualify for an allowance. A letter to this effect issued to him on 21 September 2001.
