Vol. 548 No. 5

Written Answers. - Special Educational Needs.

Noel Ahern

Question:

428 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Minister for Education and Science the financial assistance available to an Irish citizen living in Brussels, whose autistic daughter's educational needs are proving very expensive and can only be facilitated in one particular school which teaches autistic children through English. [5448/02]

My Department's responsibility for the provision of education services, including special education services, does not normally extend to meeting the needs of Irish nationals living abroad. However, if the Deputy will provide me with details of the case in question, I will arrange to have the matter investigated.
