Vol. 550 No. 2

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Seymour Crawford

Question:

170 Mr. Crawford asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a person (details supplied) in County Cavan will receive a special beef payment and other livestock related payments; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7727/02]

The 2001 area aid application for the person named has now been fully processed and any area aid related payment will issue as soon as possible.

Advance payment in respect of slaughter premium 2001 to the amount of €4,664.00 has been made to the person named, under the second herdnumber quoted, for 110 animals found eligible for the period January to December 2001. Six of the heifers also qualified for the national envelope slaughter premium top-up amounting to a total of €109.68. A further 49 animals slaughtered under the first herd number quoted were found to be ineligible for payment, as they were under the age of eight months on the date of slaughter.

Following a BSE outbreak in the herd of the person named, the issues regarding the herdnumbers and the area aid application have now been finalised. Advance payment in respect of special beef premium can therefore issue within the next two weeks.

Jim Higgins

Question:

171 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the reason for the non payment of headage to a person (details supplied) in County Mayo. [7762/02]

The 2001 area aid application for the person named was processed but it transpired that a problem with a parcel arose due to the wrong boundaries having been outlined on the map submitted by the herdowner. This problem has now been rectified and the area determined for payment purposes is 40.18 hectares. Any payments due will be made as soon as possible.
