Vol. 550 No. 2

Written Answers. - Asylum Applications.

Michael D. Higgins

Question:

474 Mr. M. Higgins asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the status of an asylum application by a person (details supplied). [7491/02]

I refer the Deputy to my reply to Parliamentary Question No. 941 on 30 January.

On considering the case file I signed deportation orders in respect of the person in question and her son. At present the Garda National Immigration Bureau is making arrangements for their repatriation to their country of origin.

Question:

475 Mr. M. Higgins asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the status of an asylum application by a person (details supplied). [7492/02]

I refer the Deputy to my replies to Questions Nos. 422 and 315 of 3 July 2001 and 5 February last in relation to the asylum application of this person. The judicial review proceedings instituted by the person against the decision of the Refugee Appeals Tribunal are currently before the courts. Accordingly, it would be inappropriate for me to comment further.
