Vol. 550 No. 2

Written Answers. - Schools Refurbishment.

Cecilia Keaveney

Question:

623 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Education and Science the position regarding building works which need to be carried out at a school (details supplied) in County Donegal; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7933/02]

The property management section of the Office of Public Works, which is acting on behalf of my Department in relation to site acquisitions generally, has been requested to acquire a site for the school referred to by the Deputy. As soon as the acquisition has been finalised, my Department will be in touch with the school authorities.

Gerry Reynolds

Question:

624 Mr. G. Reynolds asked the Minister for Education and Science if funding will be provided in 2002 for Cliffoney national school, County Sligo, for refurbishment works and the provision of new classrooms. [7934/02]

The examination of an application for additional accommodation and refurbishment works at Cliffoney national school has been completed by the planning and building unit of my Department. A letter issued recently to the board of management requesting their agreement to the long-term projected staffing figure on which it is proposed to base the school's accommodation needs. A response is awaited from the board. At this stage, it is too early in the planning process to confirm the position regarding funding for this project for 2002.
