Vol. 550 No. 2

Written Answers. - School Transport.

Tom Enright

Question:

646 Mr. Enright asked the Minister for Education and Science if his attention has been drawn to the case of persons (details supplied) in County Laois who have ten children attending school; and if the case will be examined with a view to having transport provided. [8124/02]

The family concerned reside in a catchment area adjacent to that of the school referred to by the Deputy. In the circumstances, the children are eligible for catchment boundary transport only to the school in question. It is not open to the Department to allow the pupils board the bus within the adjacent catchment area as this would constitute an infringement of the terms of the school transport scheme.
