Vol. 550 No. 2

Written Answers. - Departmental Funding.

Alan M. Dukes

Question:

88 Mr. Dukes asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources if, in the context of the scheme of grants made by him to NGOs, he will make funding available for the NGO involvement in the forestry consent system introduced under S.I. No. 538 of 10 December 2001. [7891/02]

The funding made available to non-governmental organisations, NGOs, in the forestry sector relates to specific projects or promotional activities provided for under the National Development Plan 2000–2006. The particular funding support referred to by the Deputy is not encompassed in these parameters.

I would not therefore consider it appropriate to make funds available for NGO involvement in the forestry consultation system introduced under S.I. No. 538 of 2001 by my colleague, the Minister for the Environment and Local Government.

Question No. 89 answered with Question No. 85.
