Vol. 551 No. 2

Written Answers. - Work Permits.

Brendan Howlin

Question:

432 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the position regarding the application of a person (details supplied) in County Wexford for permission to remain here; if this person is entitled to move to alternative accommodation and to seek employment; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10167/02]

I am pleased to advise the Deputy that the person in question was granted permission to remain in the State on 21 January 2002 and that a letter to that effect issued to the address referred to by the Deputy. The conditions pertaining to this permission to remain include the right to seek employment without the need for an employer to obtain a work permit. The person in question is not precluded from moving to alternative accommodation under immigration law, although she is obliged to notify the relevant Garda registration officer with a view to having her registration details updated.
