Vol. 552 No. 1

Written Answers. - Visa Applications.

Michael D. Higgins

Question:

526 Mr. M. Higgins asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will make a statement on the reason persons (details supplied) were refused a travel visa to their son's wedding and their grandson's christening. [11062/02]

The visa applications in question were refused because it was not established, on the basis of the documentation supplied to my Department, that the applicants would observe the conditions of a visit visa. It was felt that the applicants had not displayed sufficient evidence of their intentions to return home following the proposed visit. The applicants may appeal against the refusal of the visa applications by writing to the visa appeals officer in my Department with additional supporting documentation.
