Vol. 553 No. 2

Written Answers. - Road Safety.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

387 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science if his attention has been drawn to the need to improve the safety features for children going to and from all the primary and second level schools in Naas, County Kildare; if discussions have been entered into with the local authorities in this regard, keeping in mind the concerns expressed by parents and the need to apply the optimum in terms of safety standards; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13755/02]

Road safety issues, including the safe movement of pupils and students to and from schools, are outside the remit of my Department. Specific concerns in these matters should be brought to the attention of the local authority.
