Substantial progress has been made in relation to securing new investment in north Dublin.
IDA Ireland has been actively engaged in this work and the marketing of vacated premises in Clonshaugh is continuing. IDA Ireland has advised me that three new investment projects are at the final stages of negotiations. These projects will, over a short time, deliver very significant new quality jobs in the area and I hope that announcements can be made in the near future.
Some significant recruitment has taken place in other north Dublin IDA Ireland assisted companies. For example, Hertz in Swords has just completed recruitment of 250 people, Forest Laboratories has increased its levels of employment by 36 in Clonshaugh and Swords Laboratories (Bristol Myers Squibb) is well advanced in recruiting 350 staff for their expansion project in Swords and their new €400 million pharmaceutical facility at Blanchardstown. Bayer Diagnostics has agreed to invest in a new development centre at Swords with the prospect of up to 50 additional positions being created.
