69 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Finance his estimate for the opening position for revenue and expenditure in 2003 before budget measures are introduced, outlining the assumptions relative to tax and social welfare which underpin those estimates. [14100/02]
It is traditional to present the Estimates of receipts and expenditure, commonly known as the White Paper, for the coming year to Dáil Éireann in the week before the budget. I propose to do the same again this year. The White Paper will show the estimates of the opening position for revenue and expenditure in 2003 before budget measures are introduced, on the basis of the best available information – external and domestic – at that time.
