Vol. 553 No. 3

Written Answers. - Arts Funding.

John Gormley

Question:

99 Mr. Gormley asked the Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism the reason a registered charity (details supplied) has, since 2000, received no arts funding and no meeting with the arts Minister, despite repeated requests; if this situation is being reconsidered; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14006/02]

State support for the arts is chan nelled through the Arts Council which is autonomous in the allocation of its resources. As recently as 2 May 2002, officials from the arts division of my Department met representatives of IntroArt and explained the position. I have not received a request for a meeting from the group concerned and will only be too pleased to meet them if requested to do so.
