Vol. 553 No. 5

Written Answers. - Public Capital Programme.

Richard Bruton

Question:

251 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Education and Science the projects with a value in excess of ?10 million within the public capital programme completed in 2001 which have come in excess of budget adjusted by movements in relevant price indices; and the extent of the overrun in each case. [14688/02]

Two capital projects with a construction contract value in excess of €10 million, where State funding, either in whole or in part, has been agreed, were completed in 2001. These comprised the phase 1A development of the Institute of Technology, Tralee and the library building in Trinity College.

Final accounts have not yet been agreed for these projects. The submission of a final account typically does not happen until at least one year after the date of practical completion, as there is a 12 month defects liability period. It is not possible to establish their final cost until the final accounts for these projects are available.
