Vol. 555 No. 3

Written Answers. - School Transport.

John McGuinness

Question:

189 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Education and Science if proper school transport will be arranged with a personal assistant for a person (details supplied) in County Carlow; and if immediate action will be taken to assist the parents of the child. [18540/02]

The pupil in question has been facilitated with transport to the school attended. My Department provides grant aid to schools for the provision of escorts on special needs services. The appointment of escorts is a matter for schools, subject to approval from my Department. In this case the school concerned is not participating in the escort grant scheme.
