Vol. 556 No. 3

Written Answers. - Harbours and Piers.

Jim O'Keeffe

Question:

458 Mr. J. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources if the allocation of funding can be made for the development of Adam's Quay, Kinsale, as a fish landing quay, in view of the huge pressures on existing facilities in the town. [20279/02]

Earlier this year Kinsale Harbour Commissioners submitted a geophysical survey report and a ground investigation report to my Department for consideration. The proposed works include a quay development and an ice plant building and the total cost of construction is estimated at €1.4 million.

There were no funds available for works at Adam's Quay under the 2002 fishery harbours development programme. The question of providing funding for Adam's Quay development will depend on the amount of funding allocated by the Government for 2003 and forward years and overall national priorities.
