Vol. 556 No. 3

Written Answers. - Urban Renewal Schemes.

Michael Ring

Question:

650 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the number of properties in each of the five designated towns in County Mayo which have taken up the town renewal scheme; the number of properties which qualified in each of the towns; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19771/02]

The Town Renewal Act, 2000, places responsibility on county councils to monitor progress on the implementation of the town renewal scheme. Under guidelines issued by my Department, monitoring committees have been established in each county to report to the county council on progress under the scheme.

While monitoring data on the scheme is submitted to my Department periodically, information in relation to specific properties in the towns designated may more appropriately be sought from the county council concerned.
