Vol. 560 No. 3

Written Answers. - Departmental Expenditure.

Ciarán Cuffe

Question:

396 Mr. Cuffe asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the quantity and cost of stationery used by his Department every year; and the proportion of that stationery which is recycled paper. [2474/03]

The following table sets out the quantity and cost of stationery purchased in 2002, and the proportion of that stationery which is made from recycled material. Stationery for the Department's headquarters and its Ballina offices are purchased centrally. The vehicle registration unit in Shannon has its own procurement arrangements, and the relevant information is shown separately. The table also includes details in respect of Dúchas and Met Éireann, which were transferred to my Department in 2002. It is my Department's policy to purchase recycled products whenever possible.
