Question:

423 Mr. Timmins asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of gardaí at work between the hours of 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. for the towns of Bray, Greystones, Arklow and Wicklow Town; if there is foot patrol cover for these towns for that total period; the situation in regard to March 2002 for the same period and towns; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4511/03]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that Bray and Greystones are in Bray District; Arklow is in Gorey District; Wicklow is in Wicklow District.

The personnel strength, all ranks, of these districts currently and as at 31 March 2002 is set out as follows. As may be seen, the overall Garda strength in these districts has increased in the period specified.

I am further informed by the Garda authorities that detailed information on foot patrols is not divulged for operational reasons.
