Vol. 561 No. 6

Written Answers - British Security Forces.

Cecilia Keaveney

Question:

86 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if between 3.30 p.m. and 4.30 p.m. on 14 February a British helicopter landed in fields (details supplied) in County Donegal; and if he will make a statement on the recourse open to farmers should they lose lambs as a result of the stress they endured. [5086/03]

The Government regards incursions by British security forces into the State as a serious matter. On each occasion when such an incident is reported to my Department the matter is raised with the British Government.

I have asked that the alleged incident be raised with the British authorities through the British-Irish intergovernmental secretariat in Belfast.

Farmers who lose livestock as a result of the actions of British security forces can contact the British Army claims office in Lisburn, County Antrim, at 048 92261075.

I will contact the Deputy as soon as my Department is in receipt of the relevant information from the secretariat.
