Vol. 563 No. 2

Written Answers - Herd Testing.

Ned O'Keeffe

Question:

194 Mr. N. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will permit a person (details supplied) in County Cork to carry out a private herd test in respect of pedigree bulls which they wish to sell. [7562/03]

The position is that once a herd test has been listed to a herd owner's private veterinary practitioner a private test on some animals in the herd is not allowed. The herd of the person concerned, has been listed to her private veterinary practitioner to have her annual round test for TB and brucellosis carried out between 17 February and the 6 April 2003. If she wishes to sell animals, and a pre-movement test is required, she will have to carry out the round test before she can proceed to sell animals.
