Vol. 565 No. 1

Written Answers. - Departmental Programmes.

Joe Sherlock

Question:

241 Mr. Sherlock asked the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs if funding has been made available for the RAPID programme in Mallow; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10172/03]

My Department, assisted by Area Development Management Limited, co-ordinates the implementation of the RAPID programme.

The RAPID plan from Mallow included 32 proposals for funding under various schemes, which have been forwarded to the relevant Departments for consideration. None of the proposals fall within the remit of funding schemes operated by my Department. It is a matter for each of the other Departments, therefore, to make allocations to RAPID projects from available NDP funding within their own budgets.
The Deputy should note, however, that my Department has allocated an amount of €14,500 to the Mallow area implementation team to support them in the preparation of the plan and in the implementation of the programme.
