I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Gogarty – the need to reopen, or reassess the findings of, the Scott investigation into approximately 350 incidences of alleged abuse in what is now known as St. David's in Artane and send some of the files to the DPP; (2) Deputy Ring – to ask the Minister for Social and Family Affairs if she will reconsider her adjustments to the back to education allowance and allow payment to continue for the summer months; (3) Deputy Murphy – if the Government will consider extending the time limit for AER VI in view of the fact that certain planning permissions have been held up; (4) Deputy Finian McGrath – the growing impact of Government cuts on people with disabilities and the need for rights-based legislation; (5) Deputy O'Dowd – to ask the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs to discuss the funding crisis in area partnerships and community groups funded through ADM Limited; (6) Deputy Cregan – to ask the Minister for Health and Children to support the proposed provision of radiotherapy services on a site within the grounds of the Mid-West Regional Hospital; (7) Deputy Penrose – the need for the Minister of Agriculture and Food to put forward proposals and take appropriate measures to deal with impending reduction in the special beef premium payments as a result of the overshoot of the national ceiling which occurred at the end of 2002 and was caused by the publication of the Fischler proposals for the review of the Common Agricultural Policy and the need for the Minister to take immediate steps to protect farmers from losing out financially; (8) Deputy Crawford – to ask the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs to readjust the partnership budget before serious damage is done to extremely good work; and (9) Deputy Deenihan – the lack of progress on the provision of an extension to Curranes national school, Castleisland, County Kerry.
The matters raised by Deputies Murphy, Finian McGrath, Cregan and Crawford have been selected for discussion and will be taken at the conclusion of business.
