Before moving to the Order of Business, we will move on to requests to move the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 dealing with two different topics. I call on Deputies in the order in which they submitted their notices to my office. I call on Deputy Morgan to state his matter.
Requests to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 31.
I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to debate the following urgent matter: the highly questionable appointment of former Progressive Democrats Party leader Des O'Malley to the board of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development; the scandalous record of this Government in failing to appoint women and younger people to State boards and the urgent need to reform the undemocratic practice of Government appointees.
Having considered the matter, it is not in order under Standing Order 31.
In regard to the second topic, I have received notice from Deputy Seymour Crawford. I call on Deputy Crawford to state the matter.
I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to discuss an issue of national importance: the ongoing dispute at the Department of Agriculture and Food which is to escalate next week and which will disrupt the trading in animals; further delay the overdue payment to farmers and cause chaos and long-term damage to our biggest industry.
Having considered the matter fully, I do not consider it to be in accordance with Standing Order 31.
