Vol. 566 No. 4

Written Answers. - Homeless Persons.

Joe Costello

Question:

164 Mr. Costello asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government when he expects to receive the results of the assessment jointly carried out by Dublin City Council and the Homeless Agency of the extent of homelessness in the city in January 2003; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12951/03]

In January 2003, my Department received the results of the survey of households using accommodation for homeless people that was jointly carried out by Dublin City Council and the Homeless Agency. However, Dublin City Council subsequently raised a number of concerns regarding the reliability of the figures. I understand the council is currently re-examining the breakdown of the results of the survey vis-à-vis their waiting list of homeless people and hope to be able to clarify the matter shortly.
