Question:

115 Mr. B. Smith asked the Minister for Finance if consideration will be given to County Cavan as a centre for decentralisation; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19504/03]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 114 and 115 together.

The Government is committed to moving forward the progressive decentralisation of offices and agencies taking into account the national spatial strategy. As I said on many occasions there is a wide range of important issues that must be taken into consideration. At present it is not possible for me to state when the Government will be in a position to take a decision on decentralisation. All of the numerous submissions and cases made to my Department, including that received from and on behalf of Cavan, will be given full consideration in these deliberations.
