Vol. 571 No. 1

Written Answers. - Ground Rents.

Finian McGrath

Question:

1105 Mr. F. McGrath asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform his plans to bring in legislation to end once and for all ground rent and to deal effectively with ground landlords who give neither goods or services for this feudal rent. [19672/03]

The Government legislative programme makes provision for the publication of a Ground Rent Bill during 2003 with a view to abolishing ground rents. Publication of the Bill is subject to the resolution of possible constitutional and other difficulties and I am not, therefore, in a position to give a publication date at this stage.
