As the Deputy will be aware, the Government of the day appointed a tribunal of inquiry to hold a public inquiry into the disaster at the Stardust in 1981. The tribunal of inquiry, presented its report to the Minister for the Environment on 30 June 1982. I understand that, as part of their investigation, the tribunal received a number of reports in relation to the electrics at the Stardust and that this matter is dealt with in the tribunal's report.
The Deputy will also be aware that recently representatives from my Department, from the Department of Health and Children and from the Department of the Environment and Local Government have held a number of meetings with representatives of the Stardust Victims Committee, at which it has been stated that any new evidence brought forward by the committee in relation to the cause of the fire would be examined. My Department awaits receipt of documentation in relation to any new evidence.
