Vol. 572 No. 1

Written Answers. - Local Authority Housing.

Jack Wall

Question:

183 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for the Environment Heritage and Local Government the funding available to Kildare County Council and Athy Town Council for the provision of local authority housing from his Department for each of the past three years; the amount of funding drawn down; the number of houses erected in each of the years; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22506/03]

Housing capital allocations to local authorities, including Kildare County Council and Athy Town Council, consist of Exchequer capital grants combined with the use of internal capital receipts. The allocations relate to the main local authority housing construction/acquisition programme, the provision of extensions to local authority houses and the undertaking of improvement works in lieu of local authority housing. Details of the allocations and actual expenditure for the years 2001, 2002 and 2003 for Kildare County Council and Athy Town Council are set out in table 1.

The number of houses completed or acquired by Kildare County Council and Athy Town Council in 2001 and 2002, and 2003 to the end of June are set out in table 2.
