Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Durkan – the subject matter and reply thereto of Parliamentary Question No. 20952/03 of 30 September 2003; (2) Deputy Finian McGrath – the crisis residential waiting list of 263 people with intellectual disabilities at St. Michael's House, Ballymun, Dublin 9; (3) Deputy Connaughton – the steps taken to ensure that the live export of cattle will be safeguarded by ensuring that the resting stations for cattle in transit will be maintained across Europe; (4) Deputy Michael Moynihan – the level of investment by Government Departments and State agencies on printing costs for glossy brochure-type publications and annual reports; (5) Deputy Ring – to ask what assistance will be made available immediately from the Office of Public Works to help the people affected by the recent landslides in North Mayo; what compensation package will be put in place towards the private property of the residents and farmers; and if the Office of Public Works has assessed the damage done to private property; (6) Deputy Costello – the need for the Government to intervene and help to save the Cricklewood Homeless Centre in London, a refuge for homeless and addicted Irish people in Britain which is being sold by the Diocese of Westminster; (7) Deputy McManus – the need to prevent the closure of the One in Four organisation as a result of funding difficulties; (8) Deputy Broughan – the serious consequences for the Irish fishing industry of the agreement reached by the Council of Fishery Ministers in Luxembourg on Monday to downsize by two thirds the protected Irish fishing zone known as the Irish Box and the need for the Minister to outline the steps he proposes to take to protect the industry in the light of this development; (9) Deputy Hayes – when the Minister will sanction a refurbishment grant for St. Ailbe's school at Rosanna Road, Tipperary town; (10) Deputy Healy – the urgent need for the Minister to approve a staffing allocation of €3.2 million for the South Eastern Health Board to enable the opening of the new surgical unit at St. Joseph's Hospital, Clonmel; (11) Deputy Deenihan – the closure of St. Brendan's National School, Blennerville, County Kerry, because of rat infestation; (12) Deputy Morgan – the necessity for the Minister to ensure, in light of the facts contained in the recently published Housing Statistics Bulletin, that appropriate accommodation is provided for the differing sizes of family units and specifically to put in place a strategy to end the unacceptable situation where it is virtually impossible for single people, particularly single males, to be housed by local authorities; (13) Deputy Breeda Moynihan-Cronin – the need for urgent refurbishment and repairs at Lauragh National School, Killarney, County Kerry; (14) Deputy Carey – the plans by the Garda authorities to deal with the upsurge in violent crime in the Finglas area.

The matters raised by Deputies Deenihan, Finian McGrath, McManus and Carey have been selected for discussion.
