Vol. 574 No. 1

Written Answers. - Telecommunications Services.

Seán Haughey

Question:

316 Mr. Haughey asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources his plans to make digital television and radio freely available to the public, similar to the scheme in the UK whereby the customer makes a one off payment for the decoder and gets a limited digital service; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26239/03]

I have instructed my officials to assess the options for rolling out digital television and radio services in Ireland, and in particular the options related to digital terrestrial television. This assessment is being informed by the experience in other jurisdictions.
