Vol. 761 No. 1

Landlord and Tenant (Business Leases Rent Review) Bill 2012: First Stage

I move:

That leave be granted to introduce a Bill entitled an Act to make provision for the prohibition of clauses within business leases which provide exclusively for the upward review of the rent payable under the lease and to ensure that all existing business leases may be reviewed in a manner that allows for the fixing of a rent which is less than, greater than or the same as the amount of the rent payable prior to the date on which the rent is reviewed.

Is the Bill opposed?

Question put and agreed to.

Since this is a Private Members' Bill, Second Stage must, under Standing Orders, be taken in Private Members' time.

I move: "That the Bill be taken in Private Members' time."

Question put and agreed to.
