Seanad Éireann debate -
Thursday, 28 Feb 1991

Vol. 127 No. 15

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator O'Reilly that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment to ensure access for the disabled to public buildings and facilities.

I also received notice from Senator Doyle of the following matter:

The urgent need for a paediatric unit at Wexford General Hospital.

I also received notice from Senator Ross of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Marine to hold a public inquiry into any proposed infill and housing development at West Pier, Dún Laoghaire.

I also received notice from Senator Neville of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education to ensure the continuation after 1995 of the post-primary school at Mount Trenchard, Foynes, County Limerick.

I regard the matters raised by Senators Reilly, Doyle, Ross and Neville as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senator O'Reilly's matter and it will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senators Doyle, Ross and Neville may give notice another day of the matters they wish to raise.

Before the Leader announces the Order of Business, may I ask him if he would consider making time available today for brief statements about the end of the war in the Gulf?

When we conclude the discussion on the Order of Business, which I presume will be short today, it is appropriate, and I have discussed the matter with the Whips, that we will have five minutes per group for statements on the war.

May we take it that five minutes per group is agreed? Agreed.

Is it one speaker or may they share the five minutes?

Time may be shared.
