Responsibility for the development and maintenance of the regulatory framework for the control and operation of taxis, hackneys and limousines, including the licensing of such vehicles, rests with the Commission for Taxi Regulation. The Commission is an independent body established under the Taxi Regulation Act 2003.

The letter in question was the subject of correspondence between my Department and the Commission for Taxi Regulation and a reply on the matter issued to the Deputy on 13 March 2007.
