Deputy Sean Fleming asked the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government the number of defined benefit pension schemes listed for employees under his remit; the number that are in deficit; his plans to consolidate any of these schemes; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Defined Benefit Schemes for employees of agencies/bodies under the aegis of my Department and the local government sector are listed in the table below. None of the schemes are in deficit and there are currently no plans to consolidate these schemes.

The Schemes are financed on a pay-as-you-go basis, that is, as part of current expenditure.
