Deputy Louise O'Reilly asked the Minister for Health the estimated annual cost of reducing the monthly drugs payment scheme threshold from €124 to €114 from September 2020; the estimated annual cost of a further reduction to €100 per month in 2021; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The cost of reducing the Drugs Payment Scheme threshold from €124 to €114 is expected to be €3m from the proposed date 1 September to year end 2020.

The estimated cost of reducing the monthly threshold to €100 from its current amount is approximately €25m in a full year.
