102. Deputy Pearse Doherty asked the Minister for Finance if an increase in the carbon tax in 2021 is already included within the base for 2021; if so, if it will be a discretionary tax measure; and if no further increase in the carbon tax in 2021 will have a budgetary cost in 2021. [28040/20]
View answerThe base for any year includes measures which have been implemented in previous years. It does not include assumptions on any additional measures which may be the subject of Budget decisions in the current year. As such, any potential revenue arising from changes to the rate of carbon tax in Budget 2021 has not been included in the base.
