Deputy Eoin Ó Broin asked the Minister for Finance if, in respect of credit unions his attention has been drawn to the fact that a branch (details supplied) intends to put in place a monthly charge for everyday banking services; and if this charge is found across all credit unions offering current accounts. As the Deputy may be aware, I have no role in the commercial decisions made by any credit union.

Decisions in this regard are the sole responsibility of the board and management of individual credit unions.

Further to this, I continue to engage regularly with credit union representative bodies and stakeholders on matters concerning the wider credit union sector.
