132. Deputy Marian Harkin asked the Minister for Social Protection if a person (details supplied) is eligible to receive the carer's support grant. [15541/23]
View answerThe Carer's Support Grant (CSG) is an annual payment made to carers who receive Carer's Allowance, Carer's Benefit or Domiciliary Care Allowance. The CSG is currently payable at a rate of €1,850 and is paid in June each year. The CSG can also be paid on a stand-alone basis to people not in receipt of these payments but who are providing full time care to a care recipient for a continuous period of at least 183 days and this period must include the first Thursday in June.
I understand that the person concerned has been paid the CSG for the 2022 year. In order to qualify for the CSG in 2023, the person must be providing full-time care and attention for 183 days in 2023 and this period must include the first Thursday in June 2023.
I hope this clarifies the position for the Deputy.
