24 Apr 2012, 15:56

The Committee on the Environment, Transport, Culture and the Gaeltacht will meet with Breda Collins, Chairman, Irish Water Safety and Dr Michelle Norris, Chairman Designate of the Housing Finance Agency tomorrow, Wednesday 25th April to discuss their vision and priorities for their agencies over the coming years.

Irish Water Safety is the statutory body established to promote water safety in Ireland. Its role is to educate people in water safety best practices. It develops public awareness campaigns to promote necessary attitudes, rescue skills and behaviour to prevent drownings and water related accidents.

Established as a state-owned company in 1982, the Housing Finance Agency provides loan finance to local authorities and voluntary housing bodies for housing and related purposes. The Agency raises its funds on the domestic and international capital markets in structures and at costs that reflect its customers’ requirements.

Committee chair Ciaran Lynch, TD said: “Tomorrow, as part of the Oireachtas scrutiny process, we will have an opportunity to question Breda Collins and Dr Michelle Norris on their vision and priorities for their respective agencies. They will have a chance to outline the challenges they feel their respective organisations will face in coming years. Members will also be able to raise any issues or concerns they may have in relation to either organisation.”

This meeting will take place on Wednesday, 25th April, in Committee Room 4, Leinster House 2000 at 10.30am.
