As part of its on-going hearings on tackling childhood obesity, the Oireachtas Committee on Health and Children will meet with a number of medical experts tomorrow, 26th April.

Among those attending the Committee meeting at 11.30am in Committee Room 2 are Professor Carlos Blanco, Our Lady's Childrens Hospital, Crumlin; Professor Donal O’Shea, Consultant Endocrinologist and Physician, St Vincent's University Hospital and St Columcille's Hospital; and Professor Niall Moyna, School of Health and Human Performance, DCU.

Recent studies have highlighted the issue of weight gain and obesity among children and young people and how this is impacting on individuals in particular and the health service in general.

The Committee is looking forward to meeting with Professor Blanco, Professor O’Shea and Professor Moyna tomorrow to get their perspectives on the issue and discuss in detail their views and ideas on dealing with the issue of childhood obesity.

The meeting takes place tomorrow, Thursday, 26th April, 11.30am in Committee Room 2, LH 2000. Committee proceedings can be followed live at: http://bit.ly/24YmPI
