Dr Sheila Killian, Dr John Garvey and Frances Shaw, University of Limerick will appear before the Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform tomorrow, Wednesday, 16th May to discuss the debt dynamic facing the Irish State.
Committee Chairman, Alex White TD said: “Ireland has seen a dramatic increase in government indebtness over the past four years due to the economic recession, the contraction of the economy, the banking collapse and the sharp decline in government revenues. We are now one of the most heavily indebted countries in Europe. Clearly there are no easy solutions or answers to tackling the level of debt faced by this State. In the last of our hearings on Irish Debt, we will hear from Dr Sheila Killian, Dr John Garvey and Frances Shaw, University of Limerick to get their insights into the subject and analysis of the issues facing Ireland with regard to the debt situation. Members of the Committee will also have a chance to question them on their analysis and raise any issues or concerns of their own with regard to the debt dynamic facing the Irish State.”
This meeting will take place tomorrow, Wednesday, 16th May , in Committee Room 4, Leinster House 2000 at 3pm.
