EU Affairs Committee to receive update on ‘Brexit’ negotiations

19 Jan 2016, 12:39

The Joint Committee on European Union Affairs will meet with Minister of State with Special Responsibility for European Affairs, Dara Murphy TD, tomorrow to discuss the ongoing EU/UK reform negotiations.

19th January 2016

Committee Chair, Dominic Hannigan, TD, says: “Late last year, British Prime Minister David Cameron outlined his four broad objectives for reforming the UK's membership of the EU. The negotiations are ongoing but it is vital that any deal for Britain is also fair for the other member states.”

“In order to ensure this happens, it is vital that member states are updated as to the negotiations. Our Committee therefore looks forward to hearing directly from the Minister of State tomorrow as to where the negotiations are and what level of support there is from member states.”

The meeting will take place at 3pm in Committee Room 1, tomorrow, Wednesday, 20th January 2016.

From 3pm, the meeting will be broadcast live on Oireachtas TV on Sky Channel 574; Virgin Media Channel 207 and eir Vision Channel 504.

Committee proceedings can be viewed live here.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the move, through the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
