16 Nov 2021, 18:10

The Joint Committee on Transport and Communications will meet tomorrow, Wednesday, 17 November, to discuss the Updated National Development Plan (NDP) with the Minister for Transport, Eamon Ryan TD.

The Joint Committee on Transport and Communications will meet tomorrow, Wednesday, 17 November, to discuss the Updated National Development Plan (NDP) with the Minister for Transport, Eamon Ryan TD.

Speaking ahead of the meeting at 1.30pm in Committee Room 2 of Leinster House, Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Kieran O’Donnell said: “The Committee welcomes this opportunity to discuss the Updated National Development Plan with the Minister for Transport. Following our engagement two weeks ago with Transport Infrastructure Ireland and the National Transport Authority, we hope the Minister can provide further information on many projects, particularly in terms of costs and timelines.

“Members would like to hear up to date facts and figures on some of the major transport schemes, including the M20 Cork-Limerick motorway and the MetroLink and Dart-Plus rail projects. The Committee looks forward to a wide-ranging discussion with Minister Ryan and hopes he can bring some certainty and clarity to matters given some of the confusion around costs and timelines in recent public commentary around road and public transport schemes.”

The Joint Committee on Transport and Communications has 14 Members, nine from the Dáil and five from the Seanad.

The meeting in Committee Room 2 can be viewed live on Oireachtas TV.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
