Joint Committee on Environment and Climate Action to meet with European Commissioner for Energy, Ms Kadri Simson

The Joint Committee on Environment and Climate Action will meet tomorrow, Thursday, 2 June, with the European Commissioner for Energy, Ms Kadri Simson.

The meeting at 1.30pm in Committee Room 2 of Leinster House will also be attended Barbara Nolan, Head of EU Representation Office, Ireland; Stefano Grassi, Head of Simson Cabinet; Jaan Männik, Simson Cabinet; and Matthieu Ballu, DG ENER Policy Officer.

Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Brian Leddin said: “The Committee welcomes this opportunity to meet with Commissioner Simson and her colleagues during their visit to Dublin. Members look forward to a productive discussion on a wide range of energy-related matters, particularly energy security and decarbonisation pathways for the energy sector in Ireland and the EU in the context of the war in Ukraine and the climate emergency, and the need to develop and expand alternatives to fossil fuels as we strive to reduce emissions and move to a cleaner, greener economy and society.”

The Joint Committee on Environment and Climate Action has 14 Members, nine from the Dáil and five from the Seanad.
