Enterprise Committee to discuss challenges facing small and medium enterprises with Chambers Ireland, ISME and the Irish Exporters Association

The Joint Committee on Enterprise, Trade and Employment meeting on, Wednesday, 1 March to discuss the challenges facing small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

The meeting will take place in Committee Room 1 of Leinster House at 09:30am.

The following representatives are due to appear.

Chief Executive of Irish Small and Medium Enterprises (ISME) - Neil Mc Donnell
Chief Executive of Irish Exporters Association Simon McKeever

Speaking ahead of the meeting, Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Maurice Quinlivan said: “We look forward to discussing the concerns of organisations representing SMEs and how best to address the issues facing them.

“The recent breakthrough in relation to the Northern Ireland Protocol is welcome news for businesses amid a long period of uncertainty."

“While much focus is on multi-national companies and foreign direct investment, our domestic enterprise and SME sector is often overlooked despite making a huge contribution and employing people all over Ireland at every level."

“Inflation, the housing crisis which is exacerbating the talent shortage; and concerns about Ireland’s competitiveness are among the issues we expect to discuss with representatives tomorrow.”
