Joint Committee on Children, Equality, Disability, Integration & Youth meets to resume engagement with stakeholders on the “Protection of Children in the use of Artificial Intelligence”

The Joint Committee on Children, Equality, Disability, Integration & Youth will meet tomorrow, Tuesday 16th April in Committee Room 4 at 3pm to resume engagement with stakeholders regarding “Protection of Children in the use of Artificial Intelligence”.

The meeting will hear from:

  • Niamh McDade, Head of Government Affairs, UK and Ireland, X
  • Claire Dile, Director of Government Affairs, Europe, X
  • Susan Moss, Head of Public Policy and Government Relations, Tik Tok
  • Chloe Setter, Child Safety Public Policy Lead, Tik Tok
  • Mr Dualta Ó Broin, Head of Public Policy, Meta
  • Mr David Miles, Director of Safety Policy, Europe, Middle East and Africa, Meta

 

Speaking ahead of the meeting, Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Kathleen Funchion TD said “We resume our engagement on the use of Artificial Intelligence after previous meetings with UCC, Cybersafe Kids, the Irish Council for Civil Liberties, the Special Rapporteur on Child Protection and Coimisiún na Meán on the safety measures currently in place for children using technology.

“At the meeting tomorrow we will look to the representatives attending to outline how they feel their plans and actions regarding safety for children using their platforms are implemented and more importantly how these safety mechanisms can be strengthened to continue the common goal of protecting our young people.”
