Good Friday Committee discuss the all-island economy with representatives from DCU and ESRI

The Joint Committee on the Implementation of the Good Friday Agreement will meet on Thursday May 23rd for a discussion on the all-island economy.

The meeting will take place between 9:30-12:30 in Committee Room 4 of Leinster House.

 

 

 

The following representatives are due to appear:

​Professor John Doyle, Vice President for Research, Dublin City University (DCU)

Dr. Adele Bergin, Associate Research Professor and Dr. Seamus McGuinness, Research Professor - Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI)

Speaking ahead of the meeting Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Fergus O’Dowd said: “We welcome the opportunity to resume our discussion on the all-island economy. Dr Bergin and Dr McGuinness from the ESRI will discuss their work comparing the economies of Ireland and Northern Ireland and their assessment of key economic issues relevant to a border poll on Irish unity. Professor Doyle will discuss the recent IIEA report on the initial costs of a united Ireland, the fiscal position in the early years of a united Ireland and other related matters.”
